The best safari we could have had in the best time for a good price!
Written: Apr 27, 2019 | Event date: April 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
The communication was effortless and without any unfortunate problems. There were no hidden traps financially and the driver was just the best man. He really tried to give us the best experience for the time we had, and he did. We not only saw the big five, but the super seven and he managed to keep that all smooth and simple. For us it would even be possible with less luxurious accommodations, but them were nice aswell. Thank you so much Simon and Paul!

Great Safari Tour with Excellent Guide
Written: Feb 23, 2019 | Event date: August 2018 | Source: tripadvisor.com
We had the most amazing time on our 8 day, 7 night safari tour with Mwema Africa Safaris. My family consist of my wife and two young children aged 8 and 11. Since we are Dubai residents, we contacted their Dubai representative, Ms. Malini, who did an excellent coordination of our tour. She was very supportive and responsive and suggested several options and ideas to make our trip most memorable and a perfectly organized one.

Mr. Simon, who is the owner of the Mwema Africa Safaris, was available full time on Whatsapp and he was very knowledgeable and organized everything according with what we wanted, was always available quickly. He answered all my questions, I had thousands of that. He gave us recommendations and useful info that we did not get from other companies.

We were fortunate to have the incredible Shadrach as our guide. We really couldn't have asked for a more amazing and experienced guide. He was an expert at spotting the animals. I simply cannot describe how wonderful a guide he is. He gave us the most magical 8 day’s of our lives.

We travelled in Kenyan Airlines and their service was good. We had a direct flight from Dubai to Nairobi and arrived in Nairobi early morning. There was a slight delay (It took almost an hour) at Nairobi Airport to get the Visa stamped.

When we came out, we were greeted by our guide, Shadrach. We had booked a 4 by 4 private Land Cruiser. Soon, we began our week- long journey with Shadrach, and what a wonderful time it was! He got us to Aberdare Country Club safely. What a beautiful place like paradise ! Cool weather too. Private villas with fire places, the food was excellent. Several options for walks, horse back riding etc. Antelope, peacocks & other small animals around the club. If you are lucky you will spot Giraffes too. We regret having stayed only one night there. Next day morning, we went to full day Game Drive at Solio Ranch and saw several animals, especially lions & rhinos and stayed that night in Panari Resort, Nyahururu. The next day after seeing the Thompson water fall and Hippo pools, we went to Lake Naivasha and had a 1 hour boating at Lake Naivasha. We saw lot of hippos and a few varieties of birds there. We stayed at Great rift valley lodge. This was another amazing lodge with good sceneries and great food.

Next day, we went to Masai Mara and had afternoon game drive. We stayed 2 nights at Mara Simba Lodge. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and we received an excellent service. The food was great. The experience of dining and staying on the banks of Talek River was unforgettable. All rooms were facing the river. On the second day at Masai Mara, we went for a full day game drive. It was amazing. It was the end of migration season. You get to see up close and personal lot of animals in their natural habitat. We had a very successful day finding animals including lions, Cheetahs, zebra, Hyenas, wildebeest, giraffe, hippopotamus, crocodile, cape buffalo, Thompson's gazelle, impala, hartebeest, and others. Spent the full day riding in our 4 by 4 Land Cruiser looking at the animals, our guide knew exactly where to go to see them up close. We saw thousands of wildebeest as they gathered to make the river crossing. This is a beautiful and vast park. Going to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve is a must if going to Kenya. I wish we could have spent 3 nights and 2 full days in Maasai Mara. We could see all the Big four. We could see neither a kill nor a leopard though Shadrach tried his level best to find one. Better luck next time. We didn’t go for Maasai village Tour, however, heard that it is a nice experience @ USD 20 / Person. Next day, after morning drive, we went to Nairobi, en-route we had a brief stop at the view point to see the beauty of great rift valley. We stayed that night Parkinn by Radisson. Very safe hotel and great room with a very nice shower. We had our dinner at Carnivore Restaurant, a must try if you are a non-vegetarian.

Next day morning we proceeded to Amboseli National Park and had an afternoon game drive. We stayed at Amboseli AA lodge. This lodge didn’t meet our expectations in service or food or room quality. Amboseli was extremely dusty and dry. We saw many elephants in Amboseli and few other animals like ostrich, waterback, cheetah, etc. It was a delightful surprise to see thousands of pink flamingoes on the lake. We could not clearly see the mt Kilimanjaro as we wished, we missed beautiful views of mt Kilimanjaro. Next day after a morning game drive, we left Amboseli to Nairobi International Airport for return Journey to Dubai. All good times comes to an end.
When we went for the full day game drive, the hotel has provided a packed lunch in box which was not good at all. Cold sandwich, piece of chicken(again cold and blunt) with a juice and curd. That was the only con we encountered during the stay other than the disappointment we had at Amboseli AA lodge.

Right from the very start with the airport pick up everything ran smoothly with Mwema Africa Safaris. Malini, Simon and Shadrach demonstrated superb professionalism.

We would highly recommend Mwema Africa Safaris and Simon and would also recommend paying that bit extra to have a 4 by 4 private Land Cruiser. This experience is an absolute 10/10 and something I will be recommending to any friends who decide to visit this stunning country in the future. Thank you so much to Malini, Simon and Shadrach for an adventure we’ll never forget in our life.

Relliable Tour Operator for Safaris in Tanzania
Written: Jan 6, 2019 | Event date: December 2018 | Source: tripadvisor.com
We are just back from our vacation over Christmas and New Year and we are 100% satisfied.

We spent 14 days in Tanzania, starting with a 5 days Safari followed by 1 week at a resort in Zanzibar. We planned the whole trip by ourself, flight to Dar es Salaam and the Resort at Zanzibar was quickly booked, but I was quite puzzled when it came to book a safari.

I wrote to 4 different local Tour Operators and asked for a proposal and quotes. Simon at Mwema Tours always responded within 24 hrs, created 4 offer with different routings in budget and mid-range. We decided to book with Mwema Africa Safaris thanks to the realiable handling by Simon. He updated our offer, responded to questions, changed the accomodations, offered and booked the domestic flights, transfers to the hotel at Zanzibar and much more.

Mwema Tours asked for 10% pre-payment, which I understood (or even quite little) as we have booked during Christmas and New Year. Pre-payment had to be done via credit card DPO (+5% commission to DPO) payment, the rest upon arrival directly to the guide.

Due to the insecurity with payments to Africa, I was quite nervous that the payment would not arrive, but it worked very well. As a group of 5 people, the amount we would need to pay upon arrival in Tanzaia was very high (over USD 7000) and I didn't want to carry this much cash with me. I asked Mwema Tours if I could do a bank transfer, and Simon gave me all the information I needed. I decided to do the payment in 2 rounds to be sure that the money arrived well, which it did. Simon confirmed back to me when the payment had arrived.

We were nicely picked up both in Dar es Salaam and at Kilimanjaro Airport with a sign and a friendly driver. In Dar es Salaam we had Steven that was only our driver during our stays upon arrival and departure, and during the Safari we had Hadji which was a super nice driver as well.

We did the Taragine, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro tour and stayed at Burudika Lake Manyara Lodge, followed by 2 nights in a tent at Wildebeest Camps (Serengenti) and the last night in Kudu Lodge near Arusha. We were very lucky with the choice and I think we got some upgrades. See each location for our reviews.

Our Driver Hadji, was actually also a guide, telling us about the animals and was listinening to the "radio" to be able to drive to the spots where you would see one of the "big fives". The Jeep was a little older, but perfect for the concept.

Note: you drive very long distances. Great is that you can stand in the Jeep during the Safari as this makes it possible to get some fresh air and to see the animals very close.

We were a party of 5, 2 teenage girls (17,13) my motherinlaw (72), my husband and myself.

When we decided to visit Kenya last summer, I was looking up in the internet for one company that would help us plan everything, particularly the small safari that we intended to do, and Mwema Africa Safaris came up.I sent them an email with some questions, our budget and the purpose of our trip, and within a few hours I got an answer !They were always very friendly and professional, and during our vacations everything went smoothly.Simon was the guy with whom I was dealing mostly, and he provided us with some different options that would eventually fit our needs. The guides who accompanied us were extremely professional and competent, and always did they're best to help with all we need during our trip. Everything went as scheduled. Thanks Mwema Safaris, we´ll get back to you if we travel to that area in the future !

Safari north of Nairobi

Very well organised safari with an excellent guide. Parks to the north have a great variety of animals and none of the crowds. Ol Pajeta and Meru are great places to see black and white rhinos up close.
