Client's Reviews

Majestic Yangtze, with Miao.
Written: Jun 8, 2019 | Event date: May 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
An interesting and enjoyable trip, visiting the highlights of China. The days were very full and quite tiring, particularly in Beijing, but this was necessary to fit everyything into two weeks. Highlights were Shanghai from the river at night, the Pandas and The Terracotta Warriors.
Our local guides were generally good, especially Steven who escorted us around Shanghai.
Miao, our guide for the whole trip was excellent! Nothing was too much trouble and everything was really well organised. She is a credit to Wendy Wu Tours.
Just one small criticism, in that it wasn't made clear in the pre- trip information that credit cards wouldn't be accepted for optional trips. It would have been good to know this, so that sufficient currency could be ordered beforehand.
Magnificent China - Wendy Wu Tours
Written: Jun 7, 2019 | Event date: May 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
The Magnificent China tour by Wendy Wu provided a comprehensive introduction to China past, present, and future. The three-week programme was a full one, but everything proceeded very smoothly thanks to the attention to detail and flexible approach of our National Guide, Lily. We counted ourselves very fortunate to be members of “Lily’s Family”; she had an infectious enthusiasm and was genuinely concerned that everyone in the group enjoyed themselves. She coped with any problems that individual group members had in a prompt and sympathetic manner. The hotels and meals were of a uniformly high standard, and the optional tours/events were not only very enjoyable but also provided good value. Lily was ably assisted by a series of Local Guides who provided useful background, not only to the different sights to which they escorted us, but also to the nature of daily life in today’s China. In a tour packed with highlights and with such a vast scope, it is hard to pick out individual events. However, perhaps our favourite was the Li River Cruise, which took us through a terrain that was not only spectacular and beautiful, but also unlike anything we had seen before.

We would certainly recommend Wendy Wu Tours, and would not hesitate to use the company again ourselves.
Magnificent tour- it certainly was!

This was a really incredible tour. The excellent itinery and great organisation from Wendy Wu coupled with our wonderful National guide, Ruby, made for seamless and easy travel for our 17 strong group. For 22 days Ruby looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble for her and it was a delight to be part of Ruby's family. We were taken to places we had only dreamed of -The Forbidden palace, The Great Wall, Terracotta warriors, Tianaman Square, Three gorges dam, Yangste cruise, Guilin, River Li, the amazing pandas and a whole lot more.
The hotels were all 5 star, very spacious rooms in good locations. The food was wonderful, with plenty of choices. There were 3 meals a day, with something for everyone to enjoy, all delicious and great quality. No time was wasted!
This has been our first Wendy Wu trip, hopefully of many more. Optional trours were also available. These were very good and varied in content.
Finally, I chose this tour because the itinery was great, all the highlights were included (other companies charged extra) and meals were included too- a great time saver! We were met at the airport and transferred by taxi to our hotel. Homeward bound Ruby accompanied us to the airport at 4 am. True dedication, thank you Ruby. We really appreciated having you as our Guide.
This tour was very good value and I do not hesitate to highly recommend Wendy Wu.
Discover Japan 12 day tour
Written: Jun 6, 2019 | Event date: May 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
This was undoubtedly the very best tour we have ever had. We were met at Tokyo Airport (the immigration area there is a nightmare with huge queues) by a lovely lady guide who accompanied my wife and I by "limousine bus" and taxi to the hotel, introduced us to the reception and then to our guide and host for the next 12 days. Our guide, Rumiko, was an absolute delight and the best guide we have experienced. She was friendly, caring, humorous, exceptionally well organised and extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the places we visited. On our tour there were 28 travellers. Eight from the UK (including ourselves), two from Ireland and the others were from Australia and New Zealand. Fortunately we all got on very well and were all punctual! The trips and activities (including origami, washi paper making and a tea ceremony!) were well organised and all very interesting. Lunches and dinners were all pre - organised. I had feared that the food would be "western orientated" but I needn't have worried - it most certainly wasn't! Whilst there were a couple of meals with "French" or "Italian" themes, the rest were very definitely Japanese! Seeing my wife (who really isn't a fan of fish) enthusiastically eating sushi or squid pancakes with Japanese chopsticks, accompanied by sake was a revelation and I for one have become a fan of Japanese food! The Japanese people we met were very friendly and often wished to practice their English - I think they were preparing for the Olympics next year. We were also "interviewed" by delightful school children whilst at some of the locations, wanting to know where we were from and asking us to put a mark on their maps. They then gave us a piece of origami as a thank you! The shops (especially the amazing department stores in Osaka) and all public areas were absolutely spotless. Not a single piece of litter was seen - even in the very busy train stations we used! Whilst in 12 days it is impossible to do more than scratch the surface of an amazing country like Japan, the tour certainly met up to its title and very much exceeded our expectations! Well done Wendy Wu Tours and to Rumeko!
Exquisite China - Wendy Wu tours
Written: Jun 6, 2019 | Event date: May 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
We have just returned from a fabulous tour of China with Wendy Wu Tours.
It was very well organised with superb hotels and efficient travel arrangements which took us to multiple cities and a river cruise down the Yangtze.
Our guide - Ivy - really made the trip special. She was always cheerful, helpful and available to support us with anything we needed.
We ate mostly in Chinese restaurants and Ivy made sure there was something for everyone (as most of the staff did not speak English) which included local cuisine along with ‘Western favourites’.
All of the hotels were ‘true’ 5* hotels (e.g. Shangri-La,Ritz Carlton) with buffet breakfasts for when you felt you’d had enough Chinese food.
It was worth paying the extra for the ‘5*’ trip as most meals and drinks, including beer, were included and we had a small group of 12 which worked very well.
There is quite a lot of walking which you would expect when visiting sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, so its worth keeping this in mind if you have mobility issues.
I would highly recommend this tour.

Wendy Wu "Cities of the Orient" Tour

I cannot praise Wendy Wu enough for their sheer professionalism and organisation of this tour. Our guide Johnson in China looked after us so well, an absolute professional, helpful, caring, with the ability to see us through airports, train stations etc in a totally seamless manner. We saw so much of China, and yet it did not seem hurried. We had time to wander through the palaces, climb as much as we could of the Great Wall, see the Terracotta Warriors, Pandas, and so much more on several boat trips, wandering through Xian at night, through the Muslim Quarter, through gardens, and all organised with the greatest efficiency. I don't believe any other tour company could have shown us so much in the 17 days of this tour. However, some days were very long, and the pace required a certain amount of fitness. The hotels were good, the food always provided enough choices to suit all, there were adequate toilets at all the stops that we made. Our guide in Hong Kong, Alan, was also very professional and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Wendy Wu to anyone considering visiting China.

This was my first trip as a solo traveller and I could not have been in better hands than with Wendy Wu.
There were thirteen of us in the group and we had lots of fun and banter. Amanda, our guide was very knowledgeable, professional and very caring as well as being good fun. We saw some amazing sights and I really feel it was worth every penny. I would not hesitate to book with this company again.
Wendy Wu China Encounters Tour
Written: Jun 4, 2019 | Event date: April 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
We had a wonderful holiday. Although only seven people were booked on this tour it went ahead with a national guide for the whole trip. We were so blessed to get Eva as our guide, nothing was too much trouble, she was always available, very knowledgeable with an exellent command of English. We travelled a long distance but being a 23 night tour we never felt rushed or had exceptionally early starts. The hotels were as described in our itinerary. We travelled by road, plane and 3 bullet trains and never had any problems or delays. We were a party of retirees varying in age from 55 to 73 and our excursions were all at a comfortable pace. Yes, there were crowds at all the major tourist sites but this is China you are visiting!! The unexpected exception to this was the Great Wall, we visited the Jinshaling section and had it almost to ourselves... absolutely amazing. Too many highlights to detail but the scenery along the Yangtze, traveling the country areas and visiting the stone forest were a bonus for us. We all enjoyed the fresh, varied and plentiful food.
Majestic Yantze Wendy Wu tour

I set off again for another adventure with Wendy wu this time to China on the Majestic Yantze tour.
Well it was absolutely fantastic !
China is nothing like i imagined, it is so much more.
Our tour guide AMY was absolutely great she explained every destination with obvious passion and pride for her country and was extemely helpful with anything i needed or asked of her.
Amy tried to teach us about her culture and some basic language skills, like Hello and thank you.
Shangahai is an ultra modern city of over 100 million people and yet it did not feel crowed. We saw the beatiful old buildings and the very futuristic new buildings from all the best vantage points.
We travelled on the maglev train at 437kms per hour fantastic start to the tour.
We then boarded our ship for the Majestic yantze cruise and majestic it was, spectacular scenery around every bend in the gorges.
One of the unexpected highlights was Xiang the city is beautiful and they light it up every night and it turns into a magical fantasy land.
Then of course is the Terricotta warriors !!! incredible much more than i expected i was blown away.
On to Bejing and all the new buildings for the 2008 olypics and all the new development for the upcoming winter olympics. Tianamin square and the summer palace such contrast between the old and new in China.
Of course the crown in the jewel for me was the Great Wall of China it truely is a great wonder to the world.
This was a fast paced tour with a very busy itenary and a few of the less fit people found the pace a bit challenging but i loved it and found it great.
Wendy Wu Grand Tour of China
Written: May 30, 2019 | Event date: May 2019 | Source: tripadvisor.com
Having recently returned from a 25 day Grand Tour of China which was absolutely fascinating, full of interesting cultural sites, and great fun. The tour was full on and not for the feint hearted.
Our national tour guide, Betty was totally amazing and worked so hard to ensure that everything ran smoothly, she organised all our hotel stays, flights, coach trips, meals and porterage of luggage, she was available 24/7 and nothing was too much trouble for her. Betty and the local guides were all very knowledgable about the history and culture of their country and we gained so much information from them. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding holiday and we would definitely recommend it!
