Itinerary

Itinerary 1 (all months excluding January)
Day 1: Arrive Tromso
Fly to Tromso. Tromso is the largest city in northern Norway and the 'gateway to the Arctic'. Spend 2 nights at the Thon Hotel Tromso or upgrade to the Scandic Ishavshotel.

Day 2: Tromso
Time to explore Tromso, a city steeped in history. Perhaps visit the Arctic Cathedral, Polar Museum and Polaria Centre or soak up the atmosphere at one of the vibrant cafés in the city centre. There are many optional excursions on offer during the daytime and evening.

Day 3: Hurtigruten
Enjoy optional activities or have time at leisure before joining the Hurtigruten which sets sail at 18:30 - dinner and overnight onboard. This northern region of Norway lies along the same latitude as Alaska to the West and Siberia to the East. Although inland temperatures can dip well below zero, the Gulf Stream ensures the coastline and, more importantly the harbours, do not ice over meaning that this remote Arctic region can be fully explored.

Day 4: Honningsvag - Batsfjord
Arrive in Honningsvag at 11:15. Time to explore the town or take an optional excursion to North Cape. The Visitor Centre at the top of the 307m cliff includes a super widescreen film presentation of a helicopter flight over the area - not to be missed! Outside is the much-photographed steel globe at the end of the promontory. The ship will set sail again later this afternoon, time to relax and enjoy the dinner on board before arriving in Batsfjord around midnight. Transfer to Polar Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Batsfjord - Kongsfjord
Morning King Crab Safari before a scenic drive to Kongsfjord, where you can have the King Crab prepared and cooked for your enjoyment. Check in to Kongsfjord Guesthouse for a 2 night stay. With next to no light pollution in this area, Kongsfjord offers good chances to star gaze and view the aurora borealis.

Day 6: Kongsfjord
Time to relax and explore the area or take one of the optional excursions. Perhaps try out one of the kicksleds that are provided free of charge at the guesthouse.

Day 7: Berlevag - Kirkenes
Fly from Berlevag to Kirkenes and enjoy the magnificent views from air. Transfer to Thon Hotel Kirkenes. Afternoon with optional excursions or visit the Russian border, a mere 10km away. From 20 December you can visit the Kirkenes Snow Hotel, just a 15 minute drive from Kirkenes. If you are tempted to experience a night in the Snow Hotel, please contact us for details.

Day 8: depart Kirkenes
Transfer to the airport for your flight home. Itinerary 2 (January only)
