At 1600, head out on the Rufiji River for a two hour sunset Boat Safari. Dinner and overnight. Nestled within woodland along the banks of the great Rufiji River lies the award winning Selous River Camp, an enchanting safari camp tucked into the untamed African bush adjacent to the vast, unfenced Selous Game Reserve. Arguably the best value for money in the Selous, the camp offers a choice of accommodation – comfortable Mudhut rooms with ensuite bathrooms and beautiful views over the Rufiji River or simpler Tents for the budget minded traveller. Meals are lovingly prepared by our chefs using fresh produce and served in our thatched, open-plan dining area situated overlooking the water.     Other accommodation options: Lake Manze Camp, Rufiji River Camp, Selous Serena Camp Day 2: Selous Game Reserve After breakfast, explore the Selous on a Full Day Game Drive. The game drive is usually 8 hours long and taken in open sided 4×4 vehicles with a canvas roof. Half way through the day, there is a stop somewhere scenic for a well-earned picnic lunch. Usually the vehicles are shared by guests unless a private one is requested at extra cost. Dinner and overnight in a mudhut room. The Selous Game Reserve is home to some of the most wild wildlife left on the African Continent. Bigger than Switzerland and over three times the size of the Serengeti, it is both the largest and the oldest protected area in Africa. Home to the World’s largest population of African Wild Dogs (Lycaon pictus) a rare and protected species, Africa’s highest concentration of Hippos and more than half of Tanzania’s Elephants; the Selous is both vast and untamed. One of Africa’s great wild places, it is yet to be discovered by many guests to the country and leaves its visitors with one of the most intimate experiences that Africa can offer.    Day 3:  Selous Game Reserve to Dar Wake up early at 0600 for coffee/tea and biscuits before learning about the smaller side of the bush on a Walking Safari (2-3hrs). Return to camp for late breakfast before being transferred to the airstrip for departure flight to Dar.
