View Veronika’s ProfileArrive at the Jorge Chavez International Airport; typically international flights arrive in the late evening. You’ll be met by your driver and driven to the Miraflores Park Hotel for the evening and a well deserved rest.
We begin with an easy pedal through Lima’s Barranco and Chorrillos districts, with beautiful views of the bay, San Lorenzo Islands, Morro Solar hill and the impressive coastal cliffs of Lima. At a charming private house in the Lurin Valley, we’ll participate in a fantastic cooking lesson, while enjoying a cocktail made of Pisco.
Heading from Lima to Cuzco, we’ll hike from the town of Maras to the Salt Pans below—all down-hill for this first one. On the way you’ll enjoy wonderful views of the snow-peaks and mountains spread out in front of you before a relaxing evening and a la carte dinner at our hotel.
We hike today from Pallakta community, visiting such sites as the Pumamarca Wari archeological site, crossing the Muscapuquio Inca Terraces and visiting the Inca site of Half Moon until reaching to the ancient archeological site Ollantaytambo, offering the great opportunity to walk the narrow streets of the last existing Inca village.
Today we board the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu, one of the most spectacular rail journeys in the world, following the Urubamba River through the incredible Canyon of Vilcanota. We’ll ascend the Inca trail, visit the impressive "Wiñay Wayna" archeological site and marvel at the Sun Gate as we enter Machu Picchu.
This morning your guide meets you at the hotel to begin a complete guided tour of the Inca citadel. If you’re feeling adventurous you can even hike Huayna Picchu Mountain, before having free time to explore the and experience spectacular views of all of Machu Picchu and the valleys and mountains surrounding it.
Back in Cuzco today, you’ll explore the complexity of Peruvian history, with visits to the Santo Domingo Convent, and either San Pedro Market or the San Blas traditional district. After lunch, a short but challenging hike takes you all the way up to Sacsayhuaman.
Depending on your flight home we will either fly to Lima or drive, stopping along the way at Hacienda San Jose for lunch. And then, Bon Voyage!
