Experience Iconic Japan

The wonderful riddle of contemporary Japan is how whole-heartedly it has embraced all things modern—all the while retaining the customs of times past. This is truly a land of contrasts: from the bright lights and chaos of Tokyo to the elegance and history of UNESCO-protected Kyoto. On this trip, you’ll enjoy soaking in mountain hot springs, visiting centuries-old temples, experiencing the time-honored tea ceremony and marveling at meticulously tended gardens. From colourful city life to the beauty of the Japanese countryside, and the hospitality of a traditional ryokan, you will experience the best this fascinating country has to offer.

Day by Day

Your driver will collect you from the airport and chauffeur you to your hotel for the next three nights. This afternoon, explore the vibrant city of Tokyo at your leisure.

Explore some of the local points of modern Tokyo. Walk through Harajuku and Yoyogi Park. The extension of Harajuku, known as Omotesando, is now lined with some of the world's most expensive real estate, and the shops occupying this pricey land include many of the leading fashion retailers on the planet.

This morning, you will start the day with a trip to the Tsukiji fish market, the sheer volume of fish passing through here each day makes it a spectacle to behold. Today you have the option to visit many different areas of the city from Ginza, the world famous home of International Fashion to Akihabara, the famous electronics district.

Today, you’ll leave the frenetic pace of Tokyo for Hakone—a nature reserve and hot springs area close to Tokyo. Viist the Hakone Chokokunomori Open Air Museum, then spend the night in a ryokan, where dinner will be served in your room as you overlook the mountains.

Arrive in Japan's former capital, Kyoto, the hub of traditional culture and home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Explore Kyoto's most photogenic slopes, featuring winding streets against the backdrop of the Eastern Mountains and participate in chanoyu, an authentic Japanese tea ceremony.

Visit to famous places such as the distinguished stone garden at Ryoan-ji temple, the spectacular Golden Pavilion and the Shogun’s castle before breaking for a delicious lunch featuring local specialties.

Explore Arashiyama, one of Kyoto's most loved spots, and visit the famous monkey park! Lunch will be at a Buddhist temple and you will partake in a traditional Buddhist vegetarian meal. In the evening, you will be introduced to geisha for a magical final night where you will learn and understand much more about this ancient and usually inaccessible tradition.

Enjoy a leisurely morning before being driven to Kyoto Station for your onward travel to Narita Airport in Tokyo.
