Day by Day

The drive into Tokyo will give you a glimpse at the frenetic energy that springs from one of the world's largest and most densely populated cities. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Explore some of the local points of modern Tokyo. Walk through Harajuku and Yoyogi Park. The extension of Harajuku, known as Omotesando, is now lined with some of the world's most expensive real estate, and the shops occupying this pricey land include many of the leading fashion retailers on the planet.

Rise early for a visit to the Tsukiji fish market, the sheer volume of fish passing through here each day makes it a spectacle to behold. Today you have the option to visit many different areas of the city from Ginza, the world famous home of International Fashion to Akihabara, the famous electronics district. In the afternoon, try a fun session of Japanese Kendo (fencing)!

Today, venture to Kamakura to see the Great Buddha, a large sculpture that survived a Tsunami that swept the building housing it in 1495. Continue to Hakone-a nature reserve and hot springs area with a great open air museum.

Arrive in Japan's former capital, Kyoto, the hub of traditional culture and home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Explore Kyoto's most photogenic slopes, featuring winding streets against the backdrop of the Eastern Mountains and participate in chanoyu, an authentic Japanese tea ceremony.

Visit to famous places such as the distinguished stone garden at Ryoan-ji temple, the spectacular Golden Pavilion and the Shogun’s castle before breaking for a delicious lunch featuring local specialties.

Explore Arashiyama, one of Kyoto's most loved spots, and visit the famous monkey park! Lunch will be at a Buddhist temple and you will partake in a traditional Buddhist vegetarian meal. In the evening, you will be introduced to geisha—a magical night where you will learn and understand much more about this ancient and usually inaccessible tradition.

Arrive in Hiroshima, the city that entered the world’s collective memory in that moment of horror on August 6th, 1945. Explore the many sights, making a visit to the Peace Memorial Park and Museum.

In the morning you and your guide will take a train from Hiroshima to a coastal port and change to a ferry to arrive at Miyajima, a nearby island known for its large red shrine gate, the Grand Torii, which looks as if it’s afloat at high tide.

Enjoy your morning at leisure before your drive back to the Narita airport in time for your flight home. Sayonara!
