Adventures in Alentejo

The Alentejo region of Portugal offers some of the most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes the country has to offer. You’ll discover a great mix of hilltop villages, cork and olive groves, vineyards, fields of sunflowers and wonderful sites along the way. The area offers some amazing biking along quiet roads as well as a diverse array of local dishes showcasing the best of Portuguese gastronomy.

Day by Day

You'll be picked up from Lisbon airport and driven into the Alentejo countryside to your unique hotel, the L'AND. With an onsite wine production facility, this is probably where Bacchus would have liked to vacation!

Your first day cycling will be on an old railroad track turned bike path and will provide a great introduction to the Alentejo topography. Later, spot Mertolenga cattle grazing on green pastures as you bike on quiet country roads through vineyards, stopping at a winery for a tasting.

The ride today is a stunning one, starting in undulating countryside and then becoming a panorama of vineyards as far as the eye can see. Tonight you'll stay in a quaint country house.

Discover a UNESCO World Heritage Site and city that offers a bit of everything. Head to the city centre for an expert-led walking tour featuring the Chapel of Bones and the Roman Temple of Diana.

Ride to the small town of Arraiolos, famous for the castle, embroidered wool rugs and carpets. This afternoon you'll head to the Cartuxa Winery for a tasting of liquid history.

This morning you’ll be met at the hotel and driven to Lisbon Airport. Let us know if you are staying on to explore this beautiful city as we can also drop you downtown for your convenience.
