Set out from Prague—the boho-chic European capital and City of Spires, for six days of riverside and forest biking towards the pearl of the eastern Alps, Salzburg—the city of Mozart and the Sound of Music! Along the way, experience magical crumbling castles, romantic country palaces, and the time-warped UNESCO village of Cesky Krumlov. Then, encounter the equally enchanting, more secretive Bavarian countryside, with charming riverside villages, quiet lakes and great expanses of green forest (and, of course, Schnitzel, Pilsner and Apfelstrudel to keep the engines firing). The journey really is all part of the fun on this Central European adventure!

Cycle along the Vltava river through quiet medieval villages towards the Czech Republic’s most dramatic castle, Karlštejn. Spend the afternoon poking around the fortress' ramparts before heading to our night's hotel in Hluboká nad Vltavou — an equally captivating setting!
Visit Hluboká castle and then cycle towards the town of České Budějovice — an architectural wonder and also known for its original "Budweiser"! After a hearty lunch at a local micro-brewery, ride to the tiny hamlet of Holašovice, a UNESCO site famous for its Bohemian farmhouse buildings.
Choose from a variety of activities in Krumlov today, including: a challenging bike loop, a hike around Mount Klet’, or rafting on the river that passes through town. This evening, meet with Bryce, an American expat living in Krumlov since just after the Velvet Revolution, for an after-hours visit to Krumlov castle.
Ride to the German border through the wild heart of Šumava National Park and cross the former Iron Curtain to reach Passau on the banks of mighty mother Danube. We'll meet up with a local friend tonight for an introduction to the City of Three Rivers.
Continue in the direction of Salzburg, opting for the gentle route through the Inn River valley today. Stopping in Austria's Geinberg, spend the rest of the afternoon making the most of our hotel’s luxurious spa facilities. Dinner tonight is at the hotel’s restaurant, Aquarium.
The route begins directly from our front door today, cycling through a verdant green valley surrounding the Salzach River and all the way into Salzburg if you choose! Dinner tonight is in one of Salzburg’s best fine-dining restaurants, Brunnauer im Magasin, located in a converted WWII quarry.
After breakfast, we say Aufwiedersehen and leave you to your further explorations of Salzburg.Show All Days VIEW MAP CLOSE Want to see a full
