Colourful UNESCO Towns

Transylvania’s medieval heritage is one of Europe’s deepest and most valuable. A mosaic of forests, rich meadows and pastures, Southeastern Transylvania supports the habitats of some of Europe’s rarest fauna and flora. Pedal along country roads and pastoral landscapes far from the tourist routes, all while enjoying the incredible scenery. Pass historic architecture, preserved since the Middle Ages; visit UNESCO World Heritage fortified churches, castles, remote villages, and even the medieval city of Sibiu. Revel in this stunning example of modern day adherence to traditional values.

Day by Day

Set forth through picturesque forests and villages toward Biertan, one of the most important Saxon villages in Transylvania. Visit the church and town square, then return to the hotel, where a special welcome dinner awaits.

Today's bike route is extra-special. Cycle through idyllic landscapes toward the Villa Vinea winery for a tasting and a delicious picnic.

Visit the Saxon village of Malancrav and learn about the region's speciality in embroidery and traditional wickerwork. Tonight, explore the streets of UNESCO World Heritage town, Sighisoara.

Arrive in Viscri (yet another World Heritage site). Visit the community wool shop, the brickyard and the 13thC fortified church in town. This afternoon, challenge yourself with a beautiful ride to Talisoara, where we'll settle in at Daniel Castle for a couple of nights.

Cycle toward Miclosoara, where you'll stop at the medieval castle of Count Kalnoky. After lunch, there's the option of an extra loop to visit the Vargyas gorge before arriving back in Talisoara.
