Unspoiled wilderness

A place of meandering rivers and lagoons, forests and woodlands, the southeast of Zambia is home to the original walking safari and some of the most spectacular wildlife in the world. Your journey combines three intimate Bushcamp Company properties, accessible only by foot and safari vehicle. Begin in Mfuwe and feel the solitude set in as you make your way to the spectacular Bilimungwe Camp. Continue south to the Kapamba River where you’ll stay in rustic luxury camps and spend time with the elephants, giraffe, buffalo and other animals who rely on this water source to survive. This is pristine Africa; no doubt the wilderness of the Luangwa Valley leave you yearning to return.

Day by Day

Welcome to Luangwa National Park. Settle in at your lodge, situated on the banks of two beautiful lagoons, where giraffe, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors! If there's time, embark on your first evening game drive.

Rise early and set out on a thrilling 4-hour game drive to your next camp, Bilimungwe. Your chalet looks out over a waterhole that welcomes local warthogs, elephant, and other thirsty game throughout the day.

Squeeze in another early game drive this morning, while the animals are most active. Pause for lunch back at camp and then set out for a walking safari—hippo, crocodiles, leopards, and lion are likely sights!

After breakfast, make your way via guided bushwalk to your next camp. Cool off with a sundowner while you soak your deserving feet in the nearby Kapampba River.

Explore the bush today; join your guide on a safari walk or enjoy a day or nighttime game drive. Tonight, take advantage of your luxury camp—watching an elephant take a dip in the river from your bathtub is an unforgettable experience!

Take a morning stroll along the river and arrive at Zungulilia, your next camp, in time for lunch. Spend the next two days exploring on foot—prepare for breathtaking views and natural springs that attract a variety of game.

Let your guides lead you on foot through the untouched wilderness; watch herds of buffalo roam the grassy plains and thirsty elephants come to drink at the springs. Tonight, recount your adventures over a starlit dinner and cozy campfire.

Make your way via game drive back to Mfuwe Lodge. Squeeze in one final sunset safari this afternoon, or relax back at the chalet.

Return to Mfuwe Airport and make your way back to Lusaka and O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg for your evening departure home. Safe onward journey!
