Discover the Golden State coast

California combines rolling landscapes of tidy vineyards with backdrops of golden hillocks and the many hues of the Pacific Ocean, making it a great place for adventurers! Scenic bike routes wind through small towns and meandering walking trails exist only a few hours from bustling cities. On this West Coast exploration, you’ll spot elephant seals lounging in Ano Nuevo State Park, gain behind the scenes access to the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, horseback ride through the lush, rolling hills of Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez, and explore the Channel Islands by kayak. Welcome to the Golden State!

Trip designed by Travel Expert Annik Boulva

Day by Day

Spot northern elephant seals lounging along the sandy trails of San Francisco's Ano Nuevo State Park. Then, suit up and pay a visit to Carmel Valley Ranch's Italian honey bee apiary.

Get ready for a special access tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium (one of the most celebrated aquariums in the world). Then, take a coastal ride around Pacific Grove and explore creature-filled tide pools along Pebble Beach.

Rise early for a private horseback adventure through vineyards and the scenic Fess Parker Ranch. Your ride concludes with a gourmet picnic in a gorgeous location and an optional visit to the spa.

Set out on a morning loop ride around the Santa Ynez Valley, stopping in Solvang for coffee and snacks with a European flair. Venture into Santa Barbara this evening for a private docent-led tour of the Old Mission.

Meet your local kayaking guide for a full day of exploring the Channel Islands near Ventura. Tonight, gather for dinner at the hotel’s oceanfront restaurant and toast to a wonderful week together.

After a morning spent at your leisure, you'll be chauffeured to the Los Angeles Airport for your onward travels. We hope you have enjoyed your California adventure!
