  • 6 days/5 nights

Highlights of the safari

Stay at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge in a great park location, between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. Spend two nights in one of the well equipped cottages in the lush landscaped gardens. Central to the lodge is the swimming pool…  a great place to sit and relax before dinner.

Moving on to the Wild Frontiers Serengeti Wilderness Camp for 3 nights. Based in the Central Serengeti in the most spectacular park location with easy access to a dense concentration of wildlife. The camp has just 12 tents and offers a traditional ‘Out of Africa’ camping experience – chill and sip sundowners as the sun sets over the plains.

  • Ngorongoro Crater with an abundance of wildlife on the crater floor including wildebeest, black rhino, zebra, eland and lion (typically larger than the average lion due the prolific amount of game in the area),
  • excellent birding with 500 + bird species,
  • Big Five plus crocodile, hippo, leopard, and cheetah,
  • The Ngorongoro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Serengeti wildebeest migration,
  • visiting a local Maasai village,
  • excellent guides throughout the trip,
  • optional balloon drive over the Serengeti (booked and paid for locally). Taking off at sunrise, float above the magnificent Serengeti plains for aerial views of the wildebeest migration, with a glass of sparkling wine and fabulous amazing bush breakfast to follow.

Best time to see the Serengeti’s great migration

  • June to October – the best time to visit
  • November and December – short rainy season (known as the “mvuli”)
  • late February to May – longer rainy season (“masika”). There is very little rainfall outside these seasons.
