Itinerary
Day 1: Punta Arenas, Chile Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to your hotel. Tonight you will enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow passengers. Day 2: Punta Arenas - King George Island, South Shetlands Transfer to the airport and take your seat aboard the BAE-146 aircraft for the 90 minute flight to King George Island. King George Island is part of the South Shetlands archipelago, which lie about 160km off the coast of Antarctica. You'll land at the Chilean base Frei, from where your Antarctic adventure will really begin. Following an exploration of the area, head down to the beach on Fildes Bay where you will be transferred by Zodiacs to the ship. Days 3-6: South Shetland Islands & the Antarctic Peninsula The next few days will be spent exploring this incredible region - your itinerary will be dependent on weather and ice conditions, but highlights may include the huge flooded caldera of Deception Island, the wildlife of Livingston Island, Port Lockroy and Cuverville Island. Look out for whales, penguins and seals and enjoy spectacular scenery and breathtaking icebergs from the ship or Zodiacs. The voyage will aim to reach the dramatic and much-photographed Lemaire Channel, crossing latitude 65° south. Day 7: King George Island - Punta Arenas Returning north disembark at King George Island and head to the aerodrome at the Chilean base for the flight back to Punta Arenas. Enjoy an overnight stay in the city. Day 8: Punta Arenas Transfer to the airport for your flight home. Notes
