South America's best-kept secret

Uruguay is a discreet but exquisite blend of beauty, simplicity and luxury that places focus on quality over quantity. This is a land of dusty colonial towns and sparkling beach resorts, rough-and-ready gauchos, subtle artists and festive plazas. Every day is different here and the diversity of landscape is unparalleled. The elegant countryside, a deep respect for culture, a love of gastronomy and the warmth of the people make it hard to believe that so much can be packed into such a small place—but lucky for us, good things come in small packages.

*This trip is best enjoyed during Uruguay’s shoulder season—see “Best Time to Visit” for details.

Day by Day

Depart Argentina for Uruguay, where you will start your journey by meandering the village of Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stepping on your bikes for the first time, you will head to the lush Anchorena Park for a picnic along the River Plate.

Head out on your two wheels for a picturesque ride among the vineyards, meeting with local producers and tasting the fruits of their labour. End your day relaxing at Seré beach, followed by a sunset cruise.

Explore the cobblestone streets and colonial architecture of capital city Montevideo with a local guide. Dinner tonight is behind closed doors as our friend and chef, Cidro, invites you into his home to dine on traditional Uruguayan cuisine.

Bike through the rolling hills of the countryside, known as the Tuscany of Uruguay. You will meet with an olive oil producer, followed by lunch at a winery for a tasting of a local Tannat Reserva.

Discover the works of famous Uruguayan artists and enjoy a coastal ride to Punta del Este and out along the peninsula. Tonight you will dine at the hotel’s Locanda restaurant enjoying a sunset over the countryside for your final evening.

After a final breakfast at the hotel, soak up the last of the Uruguayan sunshine on Playa Mansa before a private transfer brings you to Montevideo.
