Because it is set upon the ice, the camp is constantly moving, at times reaching speeds of up to 0.8 kilometres per hour! This is base camp for your helicopter flight to the North Pole—and it’s where you’ll spend a night to remember: skiing, swimming, or simply soaking up the midnight sun!
After arriving in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen you will be transferred to the Trapper Station Hotel. You’ll have some free time to explore this unique city in the afternoon.

Today we will board a chartered Russian Antanov 74 jet for a flight to 89 degrees. We’ll land on the blue ice runway at famous Ice Camp Barneo! From there, we will board our MI-8 helicopter and make our way to the North Pole, with a flight time of forty minutes.
At the Pole in April, the temperature averages around -18°C, even with 24-hour daylight. Bundle up! We will spend approximately one hour here at the top of the world, before flying back to camp for the evening. Accommodation is in heated tents, barracks style.
Today we’ll offer a number of activities and presentations, and get to know the research station. (All activities must be booked in advance).
You may try skiing on the polar ice: we provide skis, boots, and a fully loaded sledge. How about a polar plunge in a polynya (a pool made in the ice with sea water)? Or a Polar Sauna, Ice Diving, or even a Parachute Jump at the North Pole?
In the early evening we return to Longyearbyen on the AN-74. From there we’ll transfer back to the base camp hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner in Longyearbyen.
