Detailed Itinerary

 

DAY 1: KATHMANDU

Greetings from Swotah Travel! Our representative will be waiting at the airport to welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Take some rest and in evening we will discuss the everyday schedule of the expedition.

DAY 2: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. The capital city is rich in ancient art and architecture along with cultures and handicrafts. It has many places here that symbolize art, history, culture and tradition of Nepal. We get to visit the UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites of Nepal that include Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath (the largest Buddhist Stupa of Nepal), Pashupatinath Temple (the most sacred holy place of Hindu people) and also all other historically and culturally important places around Kathmandu Valley. Our city guide will make sure that you don’t miss out any important place. Preparation, Briefings, Last minute shopping and formalities are done today.

DAY 3: FLIGHTS TO LUKLA & TREK TO PHAKDING [2656M]

Flight to Lukla is considered world’s most dangerous air trip, however safety measures are taken by the airlines to make sure that no harm may touch the passengers. After reaching Lukla you’ll hike towards the Phakding where you’ll spent overnight.

DAY 4: TREK TO NAMCHE [3450M]

Next Morning right after the breakfast your trek begins. From Phakding, you’ll encounter rivers and suspension bridges. You’ll cross numerous villages before reaching the entrance Sagarmatha National Park. The trail ascends to steep way to reach the Namche Bazar. You’ll find well facilitated hotels to spend over night.

 

DAY 5: ACCLIMATIZATION

Acclimatizing is the key to successful trek in this reason because you’re ascending to the highest altitude near to Everest. While your body is doing its work, you can explore the Namche Bazar where restaurants, Pubs, coffee shops etc. are available in this place. You can visit Khunde Hospital which was set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or a one hour walk up to the Everest View Hotel above Namche. From there you can watch the sunset over Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest.

DAY 6: TREK TENGBOCHE

You will start the day with easy walk to Phulki; from there you ascend towards Tengboche village which is very famous for Tengboche monastery probably the biggest monastery of the Everest region. It is located within the Sagarmatha National Park which has been listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the monastery you can see panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Overnight stay in Tengboche

DAY 7: TREK TO DINGBOCHE

The trail descends and crosses through lush forests of birch, confer and rhododendron trees. You’ll reach Pangboche by walking downhill to Debuche and crossing the Imja River to. The trek continues through the Imja Valley and Lobuche River before ascending to Dingboche. It is a picturesque village with beautiful barley, potato and buckwheat fields complete with grazing animals dotted along those fields.

DAY 8: TREK TO LOBUCHE

The trail will gradually be more challenging, due to the higher altitude. We ascend to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The trail goes through boulder-strewn slopes as we ascend Chupki Lhara which is a ridge that provides spectacular mountain views. The next part of our venture brings over craggy mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement with spectacular views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumori and the Nuptse.

DAY 9: TREK TO GORAKSHEP/ EVEREST BASE CAMP

You are one step closer to your destination that starts from relatively easy trek from Lobuche to Gorekshep. The subsequent, straight trail to Everest Base Camp is harder. On the way you will ascend and descend mostly on a glacier path. The Everest Base Camp is stunningly beautiful; keep your cameras well charged to capture gorgeous and breathtaking views of Everest. After the wonderful visit to the nature’s beauty you head back to Gorak Shep to end the tiresome day. Overnight at Gorak shep

DAY 10: TREK TO KALAPATHER/ DINGBOCHE

Kala Patthar is definitely the highlight of this amazing trek. People can’t stop praising the unbelievable beauty of Kala Patthar. This is the side trek that adds the attraction of the trek. Kala Patthar Literally means Black Stone. The trek to kala Patthar begins at early morning to catch glorious sunrise over Mt. Everest. The day’s first light will illuminate your spectacular view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse and Lhotse. This moment is your most opportune time to snap exquisite pictures of Everest and its neighboring peaks. After returning from Kalapathar we will trek to Dingboche.

DAY 11: TREK TO CHUKUNG

From Dingboche we head towards Chukung where our climbing training will be commenced. Although it is possible to climb the Island Peak summit with no prior climbing experience training is essential. Once we reach Chukung, the expedition leader will provide you with climbing gears like; boots, ice axes, rope, radio etc. This training will uplift your confidence to climb scale the peak.

DAY 12: ISLAND PEAK

Day 12 is a big day when we will summit the Island Peak. We start before the day break and start ascending with head lamps, scaling the rocky trail up. We will see glorious Himalayan sunrise and prepare for the tough, ultimate climb. Now we will need those climbing skills and off we climb to the Island peak! It will be quite an achievement to climb the downwards towards the charming village of Chukung.

DAY 13: TREK TO TENGBOCHE

We follow back to the original path of our ascent. The fascinating culture of the Sherpa’s is on display once more and we reach Tengboche. Overnight at Tengboche

DAY 14: TREK TO NAMCHE

The walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche is mainly downhill, although it does, counter intuitively, require an hour scaling a hill. We'll be in Namche by late afternoon and off to bed to end our last day on the mountain.

DAY 15: TREK TO PHAKDING/ LUKLA

After breakfast, we head towards Lukla from where we’ll fly to Kathmandu. Before reaching Lukla we first reach Phakding, from Phakding it’s a short hike up to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla

DAY 16: KATHMANDU

Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu my sometime cancels due to weather conditions, so we keep aside a buffer day so that it won’t affect your departure plans.

DAY 17: BUFFER DAY

DAY 18: DEPARTURE

The day comes for you to depart and therefore to add more memories for you to cherish, we will be gathering for a friendly lunch and share the sweet memories we made together. We will see you off at the airport.
