This itinerary is a true gem. It has been designed to get us away from the crowds, and out of the vehicle as much as possible on walks, meeting the Batwa people, a dugout canoe ride, boat rides and tracking Gorilla and Chimpanzees in the forest. Our itinerary takes us from the Shoebill Storks at the Mabamba Swamp near Entebbe along an incredible journey of culture, wildlife, walking, and primate watching. After a boat trip on Lake Mburo we arrive at our base in Nkuringo on the outskirts of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We have an educational walk with the Batwa people, hunter-gatherers from the forest. This is an ‘off-the-beaten-track’ place and the people are very genuine, some of the last of their kind. It is from here that we have our encounter with a Mountain Gorilla family. Seeing them quietly munch surrounding vegetation is a magical and extremely special moment, one that you will never forget. Another couple of days here takes us on a rural walk, a dugout canoe, and a special walk through Bwindi seeing many delights such as butterflies, monkeys, duikers, birds and if we are lucky maybe Gorilla.
