The Oenophile's Delight

The Ribera del Duero and Rioja have long been known as Spain’s preeminent wine-producing regions, but as of recently, their reality supersedes even their reputations. The avant-garde architecture of the regions’ wineries contrasts starkly with the traditional villages and rolling wheat fields. Inspired perhaps by the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Rioja specifically has become a hotbed for artistic creativity, with culinary experimentation also emerging as the norm. As for the wine, it just keeps getting better and better. Come explore, swirl and enjoy as we stay in some of Spain’s most captivating hotels and sip on some of the finest wines this country has to offer.

Day by Day

Explore distant mesas, ancient stone villages and some of Spain’s oldest vineyards along today's route. Stop in at the architecturally inspiring Bodegas Portia for a private tour and tasting.

End your morning ride along quiet village roads with lunch at the imposing Castle of Curiel. The afternoon brings a gorgeous ride to Peñafiel, where you can take your pick of the many estates in town for a tasting.

Say goodbye to Ribera del Duero and head into La Rioja for some playful hills and surprise vistas. Dinner tonight is a gastronomic affair on the hotel terrace.

Embark on a picturesque loop through the heart of the Rioja Valley. Stop in Haro, the epicentre of Riojan wine-making, for lunch and a tasting at Bodegas Baigorri.

Today's ride takes you out of the Rioja Valley and into the secluded UNESCO monasteries of Yuso and Suso. Swirl and empty your glass one last time this afternoon at the marvellous Marqués de Caceres winery.

After a final breakfast, we will drive you to Logroño or Bilbao. If you have not visited the landmark Guggenheim Museum or the newly opened Alhóndiga by Philippe Starck, be sure to allow a day to do so. Adios!
