This expedition is for those beginners who would like to make an easy and beautiful ascent in the immediate proximity of the North Face of Khan Tengri Peak. Karly Tau Peak is located in the Central Tian Shan Mountains in the immediate proximity of Khan Tengri Peak.

The ascent on this mountain becomes very popular, and more and more mountain tourists and beginning climbers aspire to visit the area of peak Khan Tengri and to make a simple ascension on top above 5000 metres above sea level. The top of Karly Tau is ideally suited for these purposes.

Karly Tau Peak is the only mount in the Central Tian Shan, suitable for those climbers who wish to climb the first peak over 5000m.. The ascension route is extremely simple - a flat glacier to camp 1 (4250m), gentle slope leades to camp 2 (4800 m.), a flat snow plateau to the pass, from which on a snow crest the steepness of 35 degrees reaches top.


Day 1

Arrive to Almaty. Drive to Karkara Base Camp, 2200 m. Accommodation in the comfortable "walk-in tents". At leisure after the long travel.

Day 2

Acclimatization ascent to Bas Karkara Peak, 4059 m.

Day 3

Helicopter flight (35 min) up the Base Camp, North Inylchek glacier, 4000 m. Acclimatization hiking along the glacier. (See fixed dates of helicopter flight)

Day 4-9

Ascent to Karly Tau Plateau. Beautiful view to the North Face of Khan Tengri Peak and all peaks of Tengri Tag Ridge - Przhevalskogo Peak, Shatry Peak, Saladina Peak etc. Ascent along the plateau to the Pass of Sary Zhas and further along the snow ridge to the summit. Descent along the route of ascent.

Day 10

Helicopter flight to Karkara Base Camp, 2200 m. (See fixed dates of helicopter flight)

Day 11

Reserve day in case of bad weather. Drive to Almaty.
