Overview

On this safari, you will visit Akagera National Park and thereafter you will head to Western Uganda and visit two National Parks i.e. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will see Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Leopards, Lions, and other wildlife.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a verdant magnificent swathe of rainforest across the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley. This ancient rainforest is one of the few on the African continent to have flourished and a home to half of the world’s endangered population of Mountain Gorillas. Apart from gorilla tracking, the park boasts 90 mammal species, including 11 primates and prominent bird species.

At Queen Elizabeth National Park you will enjoy a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel, game drives to see animals like lions, hyenas, leopards, elephants, tree climbing lions in Ishasha Plains and many more. Queen Elizabeth also has other interesting things to see like dozens of crater-lakes, salty and freshwater lakes, views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

You will also do chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu Wildlife Reserve and also go for a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi.

With packed lunch in your carry-on, your guide will deliver you to the Ruhija tracking point before 8:00 am for registration and a briefing on what to expect before commencing your tracking.

The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (Tracking can take 2 -8 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes).

When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback.

It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest in the knowledge you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up, the rangers and guides will lead you back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting for you.

Thereafter you will be transferred to Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will do an evening game drive.

Every member of the family plays their part in farming and defending their crops animals, day in day out.

While Agatha and her female neighbors invite you to learn about the life of a Mukiga woman living in this remote part of Uganda, she will show you how the local women treat dry millet, one of the community’s staple food. The tour takes an hour each or longer.
