Itinerary

Travel to Colombia and receive complete kayaking initiation from fully-certified instructors. Go from complete beginner to skillful whitewater rider, drift over soothing lakes and paddle through exhilarating water trails in the faraway heart of the Colombian tropical rainforest. Jungle lodge accommodation, all meals and private airport transfers are included.


Day 1 – Arrival in Medellín

Arrive to José María Córdoba International Airport where you will receive private transfers to your accommodation in Medellín. After you check-in to your room, you will meet the guides and your adventure fellows for the duration of the vacation. Meals included: dinner

 

Day 2 – Introductory course

Enjoy an early breakfast at accommodation and prepare to meet your professional adventure guides who will ease your immersion in this kayaking vacation. You will receive comprehensive introduction to all the kayaking gear, and you will be helped to find your perfect sized equipment and kayak for the upcoming days. Then, you will be transferred to Guatapé Lake and start putting into practice the theoretical notions previously presented. You will exercise paddle strokes and boat steering techniques, and spend the evening exploring the picturesque and colonial Guatapé. Lodge accommodation in a local farm will be provided for the night. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 3 – Practice on calm waters

Enjoy an abundant and fresh breakfast served in the luxuriant farm and continue practicing previous day's skills on Guatapé Lake. You will experiment with different techniques and scenarios, paddle to a small island for a delightful lunch, practice eskimo roll, and take part in educative games. You will be transferred to the enchanting San Rafael, a small town based on the bank of Río Guatapé and surrounded by lush greenery. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 4 – Whitewater kayak run

Indulge in an authentic Colombian breakfast and gain power for your first whitewater kayaking session. You will receive essential information about currents and hydraulics for a safe and skillful navigation over whirling rivers. Spend a relaxing evening at accommodation, a cozy farm based in the heart of the Colombian natural environment. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 5 – Kayak course

As you will steadily progress, the fifth day of the vacation will bring you the opportunity to paddle small sections of rapid waters. There is nothing to worry about for your guide will be right by your side. You will receive valuable tips on analyzing the optimal line of rapid water flows and learn vital rescue techniques and scenarios. The classes will end with a mini-slalom course, a good opportunity to learn eddy turns. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 6 – Kayak adventure

Get ready to paddle a whole section of Río Guatapé by yourself. Let your kayak float you on calm waters as you will explore spotless corners of the Colombian rainforest and accelerate your paddling on the winding whitewater. Take a break to recharge and enjoy lunch in the middle of wilderness, and then head to the end of the trail, where you will be showered by a waterfall. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 7 – Camping expedition

After breakfast, you will be transferred to your next adventure. Arriving to Santa Barbara, Colombia, on the bank of Río Buey, you will learn to load your kayak with the necessary overnight gear for the upcoming overnight expedition on the river. After a thrilling kayaking journey across moderate rough waters, your camp will be set up by the river. You will experience sleeping in sheltered hammocks and eating in an extraordinary location, far from the rushing civilization. Dive in the heart of untouched rainforest and let silence be your company. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 8 – Downstream kayaking

Wake up by the river and enjoy a generous campfire breakfast prepared by your guide. Continue your kayak journey downstream, crossing Río Buey's canyon and admiring the lively birds and local wildlife. You will finish your kayak adventure just in time for lunch, before heading back to Medellín. Enjoy a celebratory dinner arranged for your last night in Medellín. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

 

Day 9 – Departure

After breakfast at hotel accommodation, receive private transfer to José María Córdoba International Airport. Meals included: breakfast
