Provence is renowned for welcoming cyclists to its quiet roads, rolling lavender fields and picturesque hill-top villages. As a self-guided cycling destination it couldn't be more perfect. This route takes us along the Durance River, passing through the picturesque market towns and quaint villages of Forcalquier, Cucuron and Cavaillon under the shadow of the Luberon National Park. Amid the lush colours of the lavender fields we make our way towards the majestic Mont Ventoux, with the option to take on this mighty mountain, rewarding you with spectacular views across the plains of Provence.

Day 1
Start Cavaillon.

Day 2
Follow the Durance River through Merindol and Lauris before continuing to Cadenet.

Day 3
Ride through rolling hills and lavender fields to Forcalquier.

Day 4
Free day to explore Forcalquier. Alternatively, enjoy an optional ride to Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues. More serious cyclists can tackle the climb of Montagne de Lure.

Day 5
Ride a gradual climb passing through Saint-Christol and onto Sault.

Day 6
Ride a loop through the beautiful Nesque Gorges, or alternatively, climb the mighty Mont Ventoux at 1912m.

Day 7
Cycle south across the Vaucluse Plateau, then west to Cavaillon.

Day 8
End Cavaillon.
