About the Destination:
Located in the Mahad region of Maharashtra, Kolad is tiny village set in the lap of nature. The rugged and varied topography of the land makes it a great place to relax and soak in the peace. The Sahyadris in the distance provide a superb backdrop for the marshlands and valleys of the region. However, tourists are attracted to this region in hordes because of the exciting opportunities presented by the river Kundalika.
In this Kundalika River Rafting at Kolad, the dam-controlled river is considered as one of the fastest flowing in the entire Southern region of India. Since the water is controlled and released by the dam, it is lush and full throughout the year. The river is known for its many waterfalls and grade 3 rapids. During the monsoon months, the high level of water can also provide opportunity to ride grade 4 rapids!
The lush greenery and natural beauty also makes the riverbanks of Kundalika a popular picnic spot. For those keen on exploring the region further, medium difficulty level treks are a great option. Trekking during the monsoon season in particular is a highly recommended activity.
