Circular trek via the Gokyo Lakes, crossing the Cho La Pass to Everest Base Camp
This circular Everest Base Camp trek explores the heart of the Sherpa homeland, from Namche Bazaar to the Gokyo Valley, crossing the glaciated Cho La Pass and on to the classic route to Everest Base Camp used by the great climbing parties. Allowing ample time for acclimatisation, we are able to explore this high mountain wilderness, the quieter Gokyo Valley as well as the main Everest trails. Our goal is Everest Base Camp on the Khumbu Glacier with the chance to climb iconic Kala Pattar (5545m), which offers fabulous close-up views of Mount Everest.

Accommodation details
Hotel & Lodges
The fifteen nights on trek are spent in lodges and the three nights in Kathmandu are in a hotel.

The mountain lodges (or tea-houses) are fairly basic but perfectly adequate as long as you are realistic about what to expect in the mountains - you will receive our Lodge Information Sheet upon booking. The bedrooms are now almost all twin-share (on rare occasions in peak season some nights may be multi-share).

Most now have running water and some have showers; others are much more basic. Bathrooms are usually shared and toilets are mostly Asian ‘squat’ style. Standards of cleanliness vary especially in the main trekking season and in winter when water freezes at night. Lodges at the top end of the trek (Tangnak, Dzongla, Lobuje and Gorak Shep) are more basic, particularly the toilet facilities.

You may book a single room for the three nights in Kathmandu for a supplement from GB£80, subject to availability. Single rooms cannot be pre-booked in the lodges for the trek.
