Hotels, Lodges & Camping
5 nights comfortable hotels, 2 nights comfortable lodges, all en suite, 5 nights full-service camping in three-man tents.
For the safari portion of the tour we stay at Migunga Camp and Rhino Lodge. Mogunga is set amongst verdant jungle and is a lodge whose rooms are permanent lodge style. All rooms are en suite with their own verandas, from where monkeys and birds can be watched. The tented camp lodges are one of the best ways to experience Africa and we can fall asleep listening to the sights and sounds of the bush. The Rhino Lodge is situated within the Ngorongoro conservation area and its restaurant and bar are particularly good.
We use the Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort on the first night of this trip, which is not too far from the airport . After the climb we have a night at the Moivaro Lodge in Arusha. Rooms here are in small bungalows and have ensuite facilities. There is a lovely garden,a small pool and a lovely restaurant area. On clear days, usually early in the morning or late evening the hotel offers fine views of Mt. Meru.
On Kilimanjaro we camp on a twin share basis in spacious modern geodesic three-person dome tents, which are roomy with 2 doors and 2 porches. There is a large communal tent, which is used for dining and at other times in the event of inclement weather. A private toilet tent is provided, since the standard of the national park toilets are rather low.
The Kilimanjaro climb is based on full service camping, so you need only carry your daypack during the walks. Local porters carry all other baggage and equipment and cooking and camp work is their responsibility. All communal camping and kitchen equipment is provided and local staff take care of all the other chores, including erecting and taking down the tents.
In Zanzibar we stay at Kichanga Beach Lodge. The rooms are private comfortable bungalows and the lodge is situated in beautiful hillside by the sea. There is very little tourist development in this area so the lodge is very peaceful. This stay is on a half board basis. Mosquito nets are provided.
These are ‘land only’ prices which require you to book your own flights and join the rest of the group on Day 1 of the trip. For more information please see Trip Notes

Have you seen the movie Gladiator? If not, go and watch right now. Those who have seen in will be glad to know that Sahara is the location where the most prominent scenes of the movie were shot. You can start with capturing the velvet dunes and taking photos of the snake charmers and mighty camels proudly swaying as they carry bedouins on their back. Once in a province, you will get a chance to capture and even participate in the traditional tea ceremony as well as to see the locals playing gnawa music performed on goatskin drums. The beauty of the sunset in Sahara is just a cherry on the top of a cake you cannot miss out on.
