Surrounded by snow capped peaks and accompanied by fast flowing Beas river the Lake Prashar is very scenic. Prashar Lake trek Highlights

Length: 1 Night/ 2 Days; from Mandi we will move to Baggi Village which will be our base camp.
Access: Kullu is well connected to other cities by Railways and Roadways. You can avail bus, train or flight to reach Kullu directly or via Delhi. Mandi is located on the way to Kullu. Reach Mandi by 10 AM morning.
Maximum altitude: 2730 m
Grade: Easy
Best Season: April to November for Non Snow trek, November to March for Snow trek 

Prashar lake Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Mandi – Baggi Village – Prashar lake
All the trekkers have to reach Mandi by 10 AM in the morning. Upon arrival at Mandi, meet and assist by our representative and transfer to Baggi Village. From mandi we will reach to Baggi village via road. The journey to Baggi village is very serene and tranquil. From Baggi village our trek will start to Prashar Lake. The total trek length is 9 KM and it will take 4-5 hrs to reach Prashar lake. After reaching delicious snacks will be served with hot Tea. Sun set will provide a magical view. By 8:00 PM a hot dinner will be served. Night stay at Prashar lake.

Day 02 : Prashar Lake – Mandi
Wake up early morning before sunrise. Because it is a real treat for your eyes to see sunrise in snow capped peaks. After taking a healthy breakfast we will start our journey back to Baggi. Upon reching Baggi, we will start our return journey to Mandi


  • Mandi to Baggi transportation
  • Local Guide who has extensive knowledge of the route
  • Vegetarian meals on the trek (1 Breakfast/1 Lunch/1 Dinner)
  • Twin/Triple sharing accommodation in camp
  • Sleeping mattress and sleeping bag (We would prefer that one should carry his/her own sleeping bag due to hygiene issues, if one has)
  • Forest Permits and camping charges


  • Any other transportation apart from mentioned
  • Any equipment required (Ropes, Carabiners, and Ice Axe etc.), all permit fee
  • Food to/from the trail head.
  • Purchases of personal natures (like mineral water bottles/bottled or canned beverages/chocolates/dry fruits etc)
  • Personal insurance or cost of emergency evacuation

What is the starting point of the Prashar Lake trek?

Baggi is the starting point of the trek. From Delhi you can reach Mandi directly by overnight Volvo or private car from Delhi. From Mandi Baggi is approx. 30 km driving distance and will take around an hour and half. From Baggi, you will start your trek.

How difficult is Prashar lake trek?

Prashar lake trek is an easy to medium grade trek. Its a very serene and perfect Himalayan trekkers for beginners. Also, Prashar lake is one of the most attractive weekend trekking destination from Delhi

What to carry for Prashar lake trek?

Full and half sleeve T-Shirt, Warmer, Jacket/Sweater, Trek pants and trekking shoes are basic requirement for this trek. You should also carry Sunglass, cap/balaclava to protect your ear/throat and some dry fruit/Choco bars/munchies.

How to reach from Mandi to Baggi while trekking to Prashar lake?

Transportation will be provided from Mandi to Baggi and back during Prashar lake trek. So all the trekkers need to reach Mandi on their own and from there transportation will be provided

What is the distance between Mandi to Bagi village?

Mandi to Bagi village distance is approx. 20km. 

What about washroom facility during camping while trek to Prashar lake?

While camping on top of Prashar Dry pit toilet tents will be provided generally. So, that privacy is maintained. However sometimes dry pit toilet may not be provided if group size is small or for some other issue. So, please bear with the coordinators in such cases

What is the best season for Prashar lake trekking?.

Its an all season trek. The scenic beauty is really enticing. If you want to experience the beauty of green Himalayan meadows, terrain then april to November is the good time for you. Otherwise for Snow Prashar lake trek experience November to March is the best time

What about safety?

You will be trekking with local guides with extensive knowledge of the trail and the region. Also, alcohol and other drugs are strictly forbidden during trekking. TripHippie or trek coordinators can not be held responsible in case of any kind of safety issue. Any guarantee of any kind of personal or material safety can not be provided.

What kind of food will be provided during trekking?

Prashar lake trek is a fascinating trek. You will be provided packed vegetarian lunch (North Indian style) and freshly cooked dinner on day 1. On day 2 you will be given breakfast before your return journey starts from Prashar lake.

What is the temperature during Prashar lake trek?

In winter Prashar lake trek becomes a Himalayan snow trek. The temperature revolves around -5 degree centigrade at night and 5-10 degree centigrade during winter. In summer or monsoon night temperature revolves around 1-2 degree and day temperature around 15-20 degree.

Good to know facts

Bonfire is not possible at hilltop. This gesture is to promote green and sustainable trekking. Also, trekkers should not expect luxurious food and accommodation at those hard terrains.

Is there any freshen up facility available at Mandi as we are reaching Mandi in the morning and need to freshen up?

Yes. For every batch of participants of Prashar lake trek, freshen up facility is available at Mandi. Please note, these areas are remote and also facilities available will not be your personal. So, common washroom facilities will be available.

Will the washroom be neat and clean?

Please  note, washroom facility will be a hired one and the organizers do not have any control over its cleanliness. Generally it will be neat and clean but exceptions may take place any time
