Day 1 & 2 Sesriem area, Namib Naukluft National Park Depart from Windhoek and 2 nights are spent in this remarkable region full of towering sand dunes, gravel plains and mountains. We'll explore the area by vehicle and on foot enjoying the sun casting its shadows over the ancient red sand dunes and visiting all the major sites of the area. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 3 Windhoek After breakfast we return to Windhoek following a different route, ascending the massive Gamsberg Pass in the Khomas Hochland Range on our way back to civilazation. We are due back into the city around 16:00 and you will be dropped off at your accommodation. Overnight accommodation.
Day 4 Okonjima Campsite We leave the city behind and stopat Okahandja, where we have time to visit Namibia’s largest wood carving market. The market is operated on a local co-operative basis and is one of the best places to shop for truly Namibian souvenirs. From here we continue to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Doundation and meet some of the predators in the rehabilitation programme - superb photos are very likely. Overnight camping. Day 5 & 6 Etosha National Park En route to Etosha we stop at the mysterious Lake Otjikoto. Otjikoto is in fact Namibia's largest permanent natural lake and we take time here to rest a little and learn something about the history of this unusual landmark. Continuing on to East Etosha we have time to game drive and enjoy the park to the full - heading west to Okaukuejo on the second night. Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole, which has been described as one of the "best game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa". Situated on the doorstep of our accommodation, black rhino, elephant, lion and numerous species of antelope are usually seen. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 7 Hoada Community Camp, Grootberg Pass After a final game drive we continue on to find the Himba Tribesmen. These tribes-people migrated here, lifestyle and customs intact, and are following their traditional way-of-life in their village on a farm. We will have a specialist guide for the time we are there, who will be able to translate for us and will introduce us to this “alternative lifestyle”. We will learn about marriage customs, traditional food and the mysteries of the local religion,from here we continue to our community camp site. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 8 Twyfelfontein, Damaraland Today we head into one of the most beautiful desert regions in Namibia, Damaraland and ontothe ancient Bushman rock engravings at Twyfelfontien. A local guide takes us on a short guided tour. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 9 Swakopmund, via Skeleton Coast Our journey takes us past a spiritual site of the San people - Brandberg Mountain, then we visit the huge seal colony at Cape Cross en route to Namibia's coastal town - Swakopmund - known for its adventure activiites. Overnight accommodation
Day 10 Windhoek The drive back to Windhoek today will take about 4 and a half hours. We willdepart after lunch, giving us time to spend the morning relaxing in Swakopmund or taking part in an activity. Overnight accommodation.
Day 11 Ghanzi, Kalahari Desert, Botswana Today we leave Windhoek travelling to the border with Botswana and from here we enter Botswana and continue to the town of Ghanzi, located in the centre of cattle farming Botswana. Ghanzi is located almost in the middle of the Kalahari Desert and was almost unknown before the Trans Kalahari Highway. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 12 & 13 Okavango Delta, Botswana A change in vegetation heralds our arrival on the very western edge of one of the natural wonders of the world, the Okavango Delta.We see our first glimpse of the crystal waters through the lush vegetation and we make our camp on the banks of a pristine African lagoon and its a contrast to the desert. Tranquil journeys in mokoros through the shallow waterways and bush camping add to the experience. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 14 Mahango, Caprivi Returning to Namibia we drive into the Mahango Game Reserve, a small but excellent park right on the edge of the Okavango River and look out for animals such as roan the majestic sable antelope. Our camp for tonight is just outside the Game Reserve.Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 15 & 16 Chobe National Park - Kasane, Botswana Driving through the narrow Caprivi region and across the border into Botswana. The road takes us directly into the world famous Chobe National Park which has the world’s largest population of African Elephants Crocodiles and hippos abound in the for bidding Chobe River and on the land side there is often a kaleidoscope of different antelope and species such as elephant, buffalo and even the Big Cats come to the river banks for their sundowner drink. Day 17 & 18 Livingstone for Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe Entering Zambia we make our way to Livingstone named after the famous British missionary and explorer Dr. David Livingstone, the town is a bustling African centre. We'llexplore the town and to visit the might Victoria Falls where there is also time for activities such as white water rafting, bungi jumping, other excursions on the river and scenic flights over the awe-inspiring falls. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 19 Rundu, Namibia We leave the majority of the group here - it's just those returning to Windhoek that continue, driving back through the Caprivi and to the banks of the Okavango River outside Rundu. Overnight camping. Accommodation upgrade available.
Day 20 Windhoek A long drive back to Windhoek arriving in the afternoon.
