Home to lush rainforest, towering pine trees, hidden deserts, charming architecture and an incredible volcanic landscape, the island of La Palma is fondly known as La Isla Bonita – the Pretty Island. The greenest of the Canary Islands, La Palma is perfect for walkers who are looking for timeless villages, whitewashed towns, dramatic volcanoes and the lush cloud forest which the island is famed for. On this centre-based walking week we stay in traditional apartments nestled in a Canarian garden complete with refreshing pool and terrace. La Palma sits in the Atlantic Ocean with views across to the neighbouring Canary Islands and is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve due to its wide diversity of flora and fauna. Highlights include the rich Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente home to an incredible volcanic cauldron which crowns the island. During the week we’ll enjoy a rich variety of walks and include a hike up Roque de Los Muchachos (2426m) the highest point on the island, walks in the Taburiente National Park, a visit to Winston Churchill’s favourite cigar farm, strolls out to lighthouses and salt farms and explore the breathtakingly picturesque capital of Santa Cruz.
