The weeks leading up to Christmas are among those in which the breathtaking Northern Lights are at their most visible inside the Arctic Circle. We have a series of Festive Lights short breaks running from late November to the end of the Christmas holidays, with special departures from regional airports across the UK – perfect for combining nature’s most extraordinary light show with the atmosphere of the festive period. On these tours, you’ll search for the Aurora Borealis by snowmobile (or ‘skidoo’) in the hope of a spectacular Northern Lights sighting.
Your three or four-night Festive Lights break begins with a flight from your chosen UK airport to Enontekio in Northern Finland. From there, you make the short transfer to the Arctic Star Hotel in Karesuando.
As well as three or four nights’ full board accommodation at the Arctic Star (including for those staying over Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, a special Christmas Dinner or New Year’s Eve Dinner) and loan of an all-in-one thermal suit and boots, your break includes all the activities detailed below. We’ll organise the running order according to the local conditions while you’re there. We can also give you the chance to choose from our programme of optional excursions – including one of the highlights of our Arctic Spirit programmes – the chance to spend the night in an igloo!
