Introduction

The Pangolin Khwai Camp is in the Okavango Delta ecosystem on one of the Northern fingers of the Delta.  To get to the camp, you can fly directly from the Chobe into the airstrip on a private charter which takes approximately 1 ½ hours. Upon departure, it’s an easy flight in under an hour to Maun airport which is a fantastic hub for onwards travel.  There are daily flights from Maun airport to South Africa into either Johannesburg, or further to Cape Town. Maun airport is also only a two-hour drive from the famous salt pans of the Makgadikgadi.
The Pangolin Khwai Camp has a total of seven Meru style tents. The camp sleeps a maximum of 12 people anyone time. All of the tents are well spaced apart, and approximately 24 m² in size. Each tent has its’ own toilet and shower and plenty of space for camera bags and suitcases.  In front, each tent has a small private deck with beautiful views over the grasslands in front of the camp… the perfect place to relax with a good book in between drives. The tents have a good electricity supply and hot running water, powered by a solar geezer.
The heart of the Pangolin Khwai Camp is the dining, lounge and editing area which sits in the middle of the camp with raised boardwalks extending either side to the tents.
Guests are encouraged to spend plenty of time in this area either relaxing, reading, editing, or chatting around the campfire with fellow travellers. All the meals are served around one long table, and there is a well-stocked bar for you to help yourself to during your stay.
As a photo-centric camp we have a dedicated area set aside for the purposes of editing. This comprises of a large table around which all 12 guests can sit, as well as plenty of plug points for charging laptops and batteries, and a large screen on which to do presentations and workshops.
The Pangolin Khwai Camp offers an amazing range of activities during your stay. We offer both water and land-based activities. On the reserve we have a seasonal mokoro station from where you will depart on the most iconic Delta experience – punting through the channels of the Okavango in a traditional dug-out canoe (mokoro). Please note though that the mokoro activity is only available when the water levels are at their fullest – generally from April through to October.
For the game drives we have three photo adapted game viewers in the camp.  With a maximum of 12 clients in camp at any one time, this means a maximum of 4 clients per vehicle on all game drives. Having only 4 people in a vehicle leaves plenty of room for kit and manoeuvrability. A limited number of 4 people per vehicle normally attracts a private vehicle surcharge at many of the other camps in the area. At Pangolin, we understand the specific needs of our clients and that is why we have made this a standard part of offering without a surcharge.
