Set amongst the remote landscapes of northern Zimbabwe, where it shares a long and uninterrupted border with neighbouring Zambia, the countryside is dominated by two distinct bodies of water. The first is the mighty Zambezi River, the fourth longest river in Africa. The second is the vast expanse of Lake Kariba, the world’s largest man-made lake. Both provide a lifeline to the people of Zimbabwe, as well as to the astonishing variety of wildlife that shares its banks.
Beginning along a gentle stretch of the Zambezi, this remarkable adventure starts just an hour upstream from the smoking waters of Victoria Falls. Here, amongst the landscapes of the Zambezi National Park, you’ll go in search of game and enjoy idyllic river cruises and island picnics, before turning your focus towards the country’s north-east and the spectacular setting of Lake Kariba.
Spending time exploring the Matusadona National Park, you’ll search for Africa’s famed Big 5 against the backdrop of this breathtaking lake, before heading on to the remote setting of Mana Pools. Flying across the vast expanses of northern Zimbabwe provides an opportunity to enjoy a truly unique perspective of the life-giving waterways which so dominate this dazzling African adventure.
