Experience the very best New Zealand has to offer with this, the ultimate outdoors package.
We start our North Island adventure by hiking the best section of the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk. This stretches our legs for the volcanic wonderland of Tongariro National Park – the setting for Mordor in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and one of the world’s finest hiking locations.
Moving to the South Island, we swim in the pristine waters of Abel Tasman National Park and sleep under the giant Ballroom
Overhang on the West Coast. Be exhilarated by the adrenalin-packed activities on offer in Queenstown or take the opportunity to escape the buzz of this alpine resort town and hike in the surrounding hills. Be dwarfed by the soaring peaks of Milford Sound and the flanks of New Zealand’s highest mountain, the awe-inspiring Aoraki/Mt Cook.
The five multi-day hikes in this adventure are carefully chosen to highlight the diversity of New Zealand’s landscape and to experience a variety of accommodation options – including camping, lodges, cabins and backcountry huts.
This trip can be split into two: The North Island is the Ultimate North and the South Island is the Ultimate South.
» Hike sections of New Zealand’s Great Walks and visit a thermal park
