This remarkable journey begins with a true ‘off the beaten path’ approach to the pristine waters and golden beaches of the Abel Tasman National Park. We depart this stunning national park by traditional waka (Māori canoe). As the waka holds up to 11 people we all join forces to paddle the coastline and search for seals and dolphins around the wildlife refuge of Adele Island.
We then travel south through the lush rainforests of the West Coast where there is the chance to explore deep canyons, to hike and to cycle.
Later be exhilarated by the adrenalin-packed activities on offer in Queenstown or take the opportunity to escape the buzz of this alpine resort town and hike in the surrounding hills.
Be dwarfed by the soaring peaks of Milford Sound and the flanks of New Zealand’s highest mountain, the awe-inspiring Aoraki/Mt Cook.
The Ultimate South includes one 3-day hike, two 2-day hikes, a cultural waka experience, cycling, and a boat cruise on Milford Sound. Optional extras such as sea kayaking on Milford Sound and a flight onto a glacier make this definitely a tour for the active and intrepid. There is also time to relax at the end of the day as well, at remote huts, idyllic campsites and in comfy lodges, all in stunning locations. Link this tour with the Ultimate North for the Ultimate New Zealand experience!
