Our Family Northern Explorer trip includes plenty of swimming in secret coves of turquoise water, lots of brilliant short walks and one big day hike. It is a bit warmer in the 'winterless north' which makes camping all the more enjoyable. Highlights include the remote coastal hike on Day 2 near the Bay of Islands, sea kayaking at Whangaroa, experiencing isolation at the very tip of New Zealand, the Te Paki sand dunes, and driving along Ninety Mile Beach. This trip suits children from the age of about 8 years old. For families we make the days more flexible, so if some want to turn back half way or take it easy, we can make that work.
