Today you will experience a new way of travelling– we go into the Okavango Delta with a mokoro in the same way as the local people do.  A mokoro is a traditional dug-out canoe that seats two people. Your engine is a human being called a poler. The first part of the journey is in a 4×4 vehicle to the “polling station” where the mokoros and polers are waiting. Once you are comfortable and laid back in your mokoro, the slow and tranquil journey into the Delta begins. Gliding along on the quiet water you will have an unlimited source of opportunities to take stunning pictures of your surroundings. How long the mokoro journey will take, will depend on the time of year and water levels of the Delta. You will stop for lunch at an island and enjoy a nature walk of a few hours. Then you head back to Maun again in your mokoro enjoying a last hour or two on the water while the late afternoon sun starts heading for the horizon.

In the afternoon after the midday heat has dissipated you will venture out again into nature in search of birds and possibly some wildlife. Should you wish to explore for the whole day, we’ll be happy to pack you a picnic lunch. You will also get a chance to go to the nearby islands in a mokoro, the traditional dug-out canoe that seats two people. Your engine is a human being called a poler. Spend your last night in the heart of the Delta and African bush and fall asleep to the sound of hippos grunting. Early the next morning you will fly back to Maun to meet up with your group.
