In the north east of Tasmania stands a proud dolerite peak, Ben Lomond. With its ski-field at the summit it is already an adventure playground however the road to the summit is what gets mountain bikers very excited. The road, known as Jacob's Ladder, descends over 1000m from the 1450m summit, switch backs, hairpin bends, gravel roads and even some single track ensure this is a big day out on the bike. The provision of mountain bikes, helmets, safety gear and vehicle support ensure all you need to bring is an appetite for adventure.
DAY 1 | Meet in Launceston, arrange for bike fitting and a gear check then drive through the mountains and forests of the north east. From the snowy 1450m summit it is a few hours of exhilarating downhill fun and adventure (the grade of track matched to the abilities of the riders). Return to Launceston at 4.00 pm |
