Day 1. Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve Highlights. Great Rift Valley. Accommodation. Maasai Mara Camp.We board our game viewing vehicles and meet our local guides and head out of the busy city. Along the way we stop off at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to learn more about the geographic phenomenon that stretches from the middle east through to the Zambezi valley.
From here we continue through the town of Narok and on to the buffer area that leads to the un-fenced Maasai Mara National Reserve. We spend our first night at our camp on the border of the reserve in the company of the local Askari to guard us from the roaming predators at night. 3 images Great Rift Valley 4 images Maasai Mara Camp
Day 2. Maasai Mara National Reserve Highlights. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. Accommodation. Maasai Mara Camp.We head out early on our game drive into the Mara and begin our search for the wildlife that is home here. From July to September the Maasai Mara hosts the herds of the Great Migration as they make their way across the Sand River from the neighboring Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is during these months that you'll find the Mara dotted with wildebeest, gazelle and zebra as they enjoy the lush green grazing found here in the north.
During the other months there is still much to see in the reserve as there is a large resident wildlife population. The advantage is also that the reserve is less crowded with people on safari.
Seek out the predators like cheetah, lion and leopard as they hunt and the antelope as they graze with the moving herds. There are elephant, hyena, buffalo, giraffe and a variety of species to see - not to mention a rich variety of birdlife too. 9 images Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya 4 images Maasai Mara Camp

There is a variety of activities and excursions in the Livingstone area’s that can be arranged locally.

GAME PARK VISITS:
In order to maximise the quality of game driving and to comply with local authority rulings, some of our National Park visits and game viewing is carried out using services provided by local African ground handlers. As well as enhancing our experience using local guides and smaller vehicles it also allows us to contribute at a ‘grassroots’ level to local economies from which local people benefit.
This is a participation tour and your help will be needed in assisting with the various day to day duties, such as shopping, cooking and keeping the truck tidy (usually on a rota basis). But don’t worry it’s not all hard work and it’s a great way to meet the local people and get to know your fellow travellers. Your contribution benefits the success of the tour - most people find the greater their involvement, the greater their enjoyment of the whole trip.
